This specimen is known as Blue Chalcedony after Anhydrite. It was originally anhydrite, though it has been entirely replaced by Blue Chalcedony in it's molecular composition, though it retains the former's physical structure. The result is a hardened material that retains it's crazy growth patterns. Anhydrite has a Mohs hardness of around 3.5, with Chalcedony varying between 6.5 and 7.
